The Power of In-Person
In November 2011, the Economist Intelligence Unit conducted a global survey of 862 senior executives from a range of industries. More than one-half of respondents represent companies with annual revenues in excess of US$500m, and 34% were C-level or board-level executives.

The study also highlighted six areas business leaders deemed key to effective business communications:
(1) 92% "Engagement and focus on shared content"
(2) 81% "Tone of voice"
(3) 81% "Facial expressions"
(4) 72% "Words someone is using"
(5) 72% "Subconscious body language"
(6) 67% "Conscious movements or gestures"
Four of the six categories can't be achieved without the power of in-person communication, which requres a rich communication environment.
